About this Event

Join us for an interactive and insightful session designed to empower both youth and adults in fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with disabilities. This session will spotlight the resources and strategies employed by the National Technical Assistance Network on Transition the Collaborative (NTACT:C) through the Youth Engagement Transition Initiative (YETI) and the Youth Engagement Now (YEN) website. Our focus will be on fostering open-minded listening, nurturing self-determination/youth leadership, and promoting an understanding of disability as a shared human experience.

Training Objectives:

  • Cultivate inclusive communication practices: Participants will learn techniques for creating a dialogue that values diverse perspectives, ensuring that both youth and adults with disabilities feel heard, understood, and respected in all interactions.
  • Enhance self-determination and leadership: Attendees will explore strategies to support and nurture youth leadership, empowering young individuals with disabilities to take charge of their lives, advocate for their needs, and lead initiatives that reflect their unique perspectives and strengths.
  • Promote disability as a shared human experience: Participants will gain a deeper understanding of disability as an integral part of the human experience, learning how to foster inclusive environments that recognize and value the diverse experiences of individuals with disabilities.
