About this Event

Self-determination, advocacy, and youth leadership are critical to improving outcomes for students and youth with disabilities. This webinar brings together young adult leaders and adult allies from national, state, and local initiatives to share effective practices, authentic youth–adult partnerships, and resources that build youth voice and leadership across systems while supporting youth in leading their own transition planning, advocating for their needs, and influencing systems change.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Define the key components of self-determination, advocacy, and youth leadership in secondary transition.
  2. Describe the roles of young adult leaders and adult allies in fostering self-determination, leadership, and meaningful youth engagement across national, state, and local initiatives.
  3. Identify strategies and practices that promote authentic youth–adult partnerships and meaningful youth engagement in transition planning and systems-level efforts.
