About this Training
MOVE, produced by the Virginia Department of Education, includes leadership by youth with disabilities, African American male leaders and mentors, and parent training. MOVE’s model empowers African American males with disabilities to overcome barriers, become self-determined, and graduate high school, college and be career-ready. Youth and facilitators offer insight into how they have historically made connections with African American males with disabilities and continued to create access to resources, and empowered parents through the pandemic.
Participants will:
- Learn how to use state data to drive programming
- Discern the value of African American students having mentors and facilitators who are African American
- Understand the value of educating youth and families to become advocates
