About this Event

CIRCLES - Communicating Interagency Relationships and Collaborative Linkages for Exceptional Students – is a research-based model for transition planning. The CIRCLES model focuses on a three-team approach to interagency collaboration and includes a Community-Level Team, a School-Level Team, and the IEP Team. This presentation will overview the CIRCLES model and provide information about recruitment, training, and initial implementation of the model in Arkansas and Tennessee. We will discuss why it is critical to consider cultural values of students, families, schools, and communities when implementing and participating in CIRCLES.

Training Objectives:

  • Gain knowledge of the CIRCLES model of interagency collaboration.
  • Understanding of how to identify key community partners to help ensure students with disabilities attain positive in-school and postschool outcomes.
  • Understanding of why cultural and contextual variables are critical for transition planning.
