Webinar Description
NTACT:C is excited to facilitate a Watch Party for Let’s Work, a documentary with the California Transition Alliance and directed by Joey Travolta. This event will include a pre-recorded viewing of the documentary.
Let’s Work is a 48-minute film about 8 young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their experiences and successes in competitive integrated employment. Most (66%) of the film crew is students from Joey Travolta’s film training program who have developmental differences.
Following the film, to extend the application of the information presented, participants will be engaged in a discussion with members of the California Transition Alliance, members of the Let’s Work cast and crew and other secondary transition stakeholders from across the country regarding the importance of competitive integrated employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Watch Party Objectives:
- Describe the importance of supporting Competitive Integrated Employment Opportunities for students and youth with disabilities.
- Recognize effective practice examples of students and youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are engaged in Competitive Integrated Employment.
- Access the Let’s Work! California Networking Activity Guide designed to help students and youth learn how to meet people that will help prepare and support them in gaining competitive integrated employment.
