About this Event

Getting ready for college can feel overwhelming, especially when navigating it with a disability. In this session, we’ll focus on preparing for your college journey while you’re still in high school. Our panel of students and experts will share insights on finding the right schools, understanding your rights, applying for accommodations, and making the transition from high school support systems to college resources. Learn practical tips on how to advocate for yourself, ask the right questions, and set yourself up for success from day one.

Training Objectives:

  • Equip students with strategies to identify and choose colleges that align with their academic, personal, and accessibility needs.
  • Provide a clear understanding of disability rights under laws like the ADA and Section 504, including how to apply for accommodations and advocate for support.
  • Highlight the differences between high school IEP/504 plans and college accommodations, and share tips on finding and accessing campus-based disability services.
  • Empower students to build self-advocacy skills by learning how to ask the right questions, communicate needs effectively, and navigate challenges independently.
