Session Description

A discussion around the importance of building State and Local Collaboration among Career and Technical Education (CTE), Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), and Special Education (SpEd) partners will be presented during this webinar. CTE has long been a viable pathway for developing the skills of students with disabilities (SWD) and preparing them for the future. Changes in Perkins V and an increasing emphasis on college and career readiness for all students are bringing the needs of students with disabilities to the forefront of the CTE conversation.

By focusing on the partnership among VR, CTE, and SpEd state and local teams across the country are beginning to have success in increasing students with disabilities access to and participation in CTE. The outcome of this collaborative partnership supports robust transition planning by providing student opportunities to explore careers and better define their path for achieving their post-school goals.

Training Objectives:

  • Use data to support collaboration across Career and Technical Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Special Education
  • Build and leverage partnerships to increase equity, access, and participation in Career and Technical Education programming for students with disabilities
  • Access available tools and resources to build local partnerships
